Katz’s Deli

Katz’s Deli is a New York institution (featured in the movie ‘When Harry Met Sally’) and no trip to the city would be complete without a visit! Whilst the sandwiches themselves are pretty exy ($15.50 for the pastrami on rye) they are worth every cent and you’ll be eating leftovers the next day.

After several sittings there now (The Bogan is a little obsessed and jumps at any opportunity to go to Katz’s) we have worked out what the best thing to order is – while the pastrami on rye is the original and most famous, the pastrami Reuben is our personal favorite!

It’s very important that you order it with pastrami as oppose to corned beef (which is what it’s normally served with) – the pastrami tends to be more juicy and succulent and is what Katz’s does really well. So while the pastrami on rye is literally pastrami on rye (with some mustard), the Reuben also has some relish, sauerkraut and melted cheese. All this is served with a plateful of pickles on the side and you wont be able to finish a thing!
