Life Changing Desert at Co. – Strawnoffee Pie
Co. is best known for their pizza’s, which are delicious, but may I introduce you to another side of Co. which after your meal (and a full belly) you may not have met before; that is, desert.
There is occasionally an evening when the Bogan and I will enjoy a nice meal at home and then be in the mood for a little stroll and something sweet. Until recently we would troll menupages looking for something local that might fill our void, but usually we’d never be able to agree on what sounded the most tempting and give up and go to bed. Fortunately this one time, we decided to go for the walk anyway. We ended up outside Co. it was summer and the sidewalk was still buzzing with diners, I guess we were kinda lured by this atmosphere, so we decided to give it a shot and share a desert.
As usual we couldn’t agree on what sounded the most alluring. We liked the sound of the chocolate torte with bread crumbs but, as a self-confessed sucker for recommendations, I couldn’t help but think our server might be on to something when he suggested the “strawnoffee pie”. We ordered both.
When our deserts arrived, the strawnoffee pie lasted little more than a minute before the plate was squeaky clean – the chocolate torte couldn’t compete. The Pie is basically a fresh rendition of the classic “Banffee Pie”. The base is a graham cracker crust, layered with smooth caramel, sliced strawberries and then topped with fresh whipped cream beaten with aged balsamic vinegar and a little sugar for sweetness – the combination is heavenly!
The chocolate torte is also delicious, just not as delicious as strawnoffee pie! The desert is crunchy on the outside and moist in the middle, while the breadcrumbs add a unique crackly texture, and I recommend you order it with ice cream.
This is one of those restaurants where you need to go with the intention of saving room for desert – the pizza you can doggy-bag for tomorrow, this strawnoffee pie you can’t!
So tell me Dear Reader, what is your all-time favorite dessert?
